JAMMU, May 14: Jammu and Kashmir’s fast bowling sensation Yudhvir Singh Charak has earned a place in the India A squad for the upcoming One-Day Tri-Series against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A, scheduled to begin on June 9 in Dambulla, Sri Lanka.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) men’s selection committee on Thursday announced a 15-member squad, with Tilak Varma named captain and Riyan Parag appointed vice-captain. Young batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also features in the squad.
Yudhvir’s selection comes on the back of consistent performances across domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League, where he has represented multiple franchises including Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals, along with Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy.
A tall right-arm pacer capable of bowling at speeds around 140–145 kmph, Yudhvir made his first-class debut in 2019 and initially represented Hyderabad before switching to his home side Jammu and Kashmir in 2021.
He has also delivered standout performances in red-ball cricket, including a match-winning spell against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy and a key role in Jammu and Kashmir’s recent domestic success, where he picked up 21 wickets and contributed crucial lower-order runs.
The Tri-Series will feature India A, Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A, with the final scheduled for June 21 after a round-robin league stage.
