JAMMU, Feb 4: Police today foiled an attempt of Contractual Plus 2 Lecturers to take out a march towards the Civil Secretariat and briefly detained some of the protesters, who had blocked road near Press Club Jammu.
Demanding their regularization, these Contractual Lecturers have been staging protest dharna at the Exhibition Ground Jammu for the last 1086 days.
This morning, a number of Contractual Lecturers assembled near the venue of protest dharna and then marched towards the road for a demonstration at the Civil Secretariat. Led by Rajni Jamwal under the banner of All J&K Plus 2 Contractual Lecturers Forum, the protesters gave a slip to the policemen deployed there and came on road where a strong demonstration was held.
However, acting swiftly, Police swung into action and foiled the attempt of protest march. For dispersing the protesters, Police also used mild force and detained 18 Contractual Lecturers, who were later released.
