RAMNAGAR, Feb 26: Senior BJP leader and former MLA, Ranbir Singh Pathania during a visit at villages of Ramnagar and Majalta had firsthand interaction with the locals there.
Speaking on the occasion Pathania called for fast-tracking of various developmental works in the area.
He said that during his three years tenure as an MLA of the area, works worth hundreds of crores under PMGSY, CRF, languishing projects, NABARD, IDDSMT were sanctioned and started.
“By the lacklustre approach of executing agencies, it looks the legacy of a contractor-politician mafia has plundered Ramnagar constituency,” he said.
The BJP leader mentioned about the alleged criminal conduct of “contractor junta sponsored by a particular political party which has been putting in tenders relatively lower rates and then played hide and seek with works for years.”
He cited the case of Tentha to Nallah Mallein road under PMGSY where two tenders by same joint venture firm were floated separately and the work at an above rate of 17 per cent was accepted.
Appealing Lt Governor, Pathania demanded penalty clause against officers/contractors defaulting time limits as well as quality control.
He said, “Leaders who have woken up from deep slumber and are now trumpeting about the cause of Jammu must bear in mind that their ‘stinking past’ is well known to the public which had rejected them in last Assembly elections.”
He sought detailed enquiry as to why qualitative execution of works within the stipulated time frame was not completed at Ramnagar-Chhatriari, Thial-Chountra Mata road, Panchound to Chapper, Plasssan to Rang, Daler Morh to Amroh, Tagan-Sattian road, work on 100 bedded Girls Hostel at Chowki etc.
