JAMMU, June 5: Senior Citizens Council, Block Miran Sahib today urged the Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh to constitute a task force to unearth the nexus between Patwaris, land mafia and others.
Addressing a press conference, the Council representatives said, “the corruption and nepotism in the Revenue Department is required to be brought to an end”, adding “the Deputy Commissioner should constitute a task force having members of impeachable integrity to unearth the whole nexus between Patwaris, land mafia and others in order to save State land from being encroached by them”.
They referred to the recent decisions of suspending Patwaris for their irresponsible behavior.
Condemning the callous move of the Patwar Association for forcing higher authorities to remove the suspension of its members, the Council demanded that the higher authorities should not be cowed down by pressure tactics as the same are against the tenets of natural justice and corruption in the Revenue Department.
The Council demanded that unemployed youth having knowledge of Urdu should be engaged on contractual basis to end the presence menace of affairs in the Revenue Department.
“Those pressing for unjustified demands be dismissed from the services and disciplinary action be initiated against them for harassing the people”, the Council said.
Those who participated in the press conference included Kishore, Sarpanch Panchayat Halqa Maralia, Rakesh Sharma, Romesh Choudhary, Suresh Choudhary, Subash Dogra, Mukesh Raina, Rajpal and Hem Raj.
