JAMMU, Feb 27: Socialistic Democratic Party (SDP) today said that it was right time for the conscious voters to go for a political change.
Addressing a press conference here today, the SDP president Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said that people of the State have tried and trusted several political parties. They should also try the SDP which has its vision document and impressive programmes and policies for the general public. She appealed the people to vote for party candidate for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat, Gursagar Singh Isher.
Dr Andrabi said that people have seen Congress, National Conference, BJP and other parties and now they should also try the SDP. The people should scrutinize the election manifesto of the party.  She said that the people should not believe those who have disappointed them every time in the past  and disrespected people’s choice by ignoring their aspirations.
“People should give SDP a chance to represent them and test our honesty and public commitment for which we have been striving  and struggling in the State for the past few years. The voters should also keep  in consideration the potential and track record of the parties and their candidates while voting this time,” she maintained.
The SDP leader said that the issue of permanent settlement of  PoK and West Pakistan refugees is the priority of their party. “We will be struggling for providing justice to the SCs and STs and ensure that Central funds meant for them are utilised properly for their welfare. The party stands for the political reservation of the STs in the State,” she added.
Dr Andrabi said that like other parties, the SDP stands for the construction of railway line from Jammu to Poonch. It will bring revolution in the economic condition of the people.  Dr Andrabi emphasized on the Party’s  agenda of seeking special concession in electric tariff and 24-hour power supply in the State in lieu of  the Indo-Pak Water Treaty signed at the cost of the State’s resources by the Central Government.
