JAMMU, Oct 11: Former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta slammed the Opposition parties for opposing the Farm Bills, termed the decision taken by Narendra Modi Government as truly reformist and revolutionary.
While addressing a Kissan rally at village Langar in Kalu Chak here today, the senior BJP leader said that the Farm Bills related to the empowerment of the farmers are truly reformist and revolutionary. He said that the new legislation will allow farmers to sell their produce outside of APMC-regulated Mandis, and rid them of middlemen interference. By opposing these bills, the Congress is only disrupting all round development of farmers,” he charged.
The former Deputy Chief Minister said the Congress is only protesting for middlemen and is lying that MSP will be eliminated, APMC Mandis will be removed and farmers will become weak due to negotiation issues with the corporate sector and will not be able to decide the price.
“Congress is only lying about agricultural laws for its political interests. It is a lie that the MSP and Mandi system will be ended. Congress is saying that farmers will become weak in contractual agriculture agreement and fixing prices. Today, the farmer knows which law is in his hands and what kind of politics the Congress is doing,” Kavinder said.
The former Deputy Chief Minister criticised the Congress leadership for using the newly enacted Farm Bills for their political advantages. The farmers are being misled over the Farm Bills by the Congress as its leaders have lost the confidence of people, he added.
The former Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that the new Agricultural Laws will double the income of farmers by 2022 and these laws will prove to be very important for them. He added that these Bills will provide opportunities and arrangements for farmers to sell their produce uninterrupted in most of the notified Mandis, within and outside the State.
Omi Khajuria, president BJP Kissan Morcha, J&K, accused the Congress party of hindering the empowerment of farmers by its opposition to the farm Bills. Hailing the farm bills as “revolutionary”, he said farmers won’t be cheated anymore with the new law.
