JAMMU, Apr 3: Former Legislator from Kalakote and senior Congress leader, Ashok Kumar Sharma today said that there was need to strengthen party at grass root level and follow the guidelines of new AICC president, Rahul Gandhi.
While addressing a one-day convention of Congress workers at Kalakote in district Rajouri today, Ashok Sharma, Coordinator AICC Vichar Vibhag appealed the party men to strengthen the party and to follow the guidelines of Rahul Gandhi and his vision of making the Congress party free from corruption, nepotism and favouritism.
Sharma added that there is a dire need to bring out the party rank and file from trust deficit. He said, “ we all should contribute our bit to carry forward the mission of Congress president in rebuilding the Congress and bringing it to the highest level of moral values inspiring the people with the concept of sacrifice and service.”
The convention was attended by the galaxy of Congress veterans having clean image and highest level of reputation in the society.
Jagahgir Mir, former Dy Chairman J&K Legislative Council in his address stressed for adopting the path shown by the father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi as guiding principles for Congress deligates and leaders.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, former minister in his speech criticised the BJP-PDP dispensation in causing unrest among the educated unemployed youth, farmers, small businessman and workers and Government failure in providing necessities of life to the people.
Master Tassadaq Hussain, former Legislator while lauding the contribution of Ashok Sharma as a political worker and social activist said that Congress can regain its lost glory if the tainted and corrupt leaders are side lined by the party.
Senior lawyer and Congress leader, MK Bhardwaj pleaded that the good governance is of imperative necessity to serve the people in democratic setup which the State Government is missing. Vinod Sharma, general secretary, PCC said that unholy alliance of BJP-PDP coupled with alarming increase of corruption has created law and order problems and complete unrest among the people of the State.
