Cong unit Sunderbani rejects delimitation report, to start agitation

NOWSHERA, Feb 14- Congress Committee Sunderbani today threatened to launch strong agitation, opposing the Delimitation report which has proposed bifurcation of Sunderbani and merger with Kalakote and demanded a separate assembly constituency for Sunderbani.
A meeting of workers of Congress and Youth Congress was held here today under the chairmanship of former MLC and chief spokesperson JKPCC, Ravinder Sharma in which it was decided to strongly oppose the proposed recommendations, tooth and nail and jointly struggle for separate constituency for Sunderbani.
Addressing the gathering Sharma took the commission to task stating that it has by passed all norms and criteria fixed for the delimitation and served the interests of some ruling leaders, who managed the illogical proposals from the administration and election machinery, causing great injustice to the people.
He termed the proposed delimitation report as totally biased, against the ground realities and the settled norms of delimitation putting the people to great inconvenience. This is a fraud played with the innocent people in most parts including Sunderbani.
The party demanded that either Sunderbani be granted separate constituency or allow it to be in the same situation but take people on board before taking any final decision otherwise face strong agitation.
Sharma constituted a committee of the party headed by Block presidents and others to hold consultations with like minded groups and other parties to launch a joint struggle for the common cause in Sunderbani.
On the occassion, membership drive of the party was further given boost amongst the youth of the area.
Earlier, a two-minute silence was observed in the memory of those 42 jawans martyred in Pulwama terror attack on this day in 2019.
Block president Nain Chand Sharma, Teerth Ram, S Ajit Singh, Yog Raj Sharma, Ashok Sharma, Mohan Lal, Om Parkash, Raj Kumar Raina, Satish Kumar, Dr Ved Prakash, Mahesh Kumar working city president, Nobat Ram, Shabir Ahmed, Fateh Singh, Baldev Singh, Krishan Lal, Lok Nath, Amar Nath, Balwant Singh and others were also present.
