JAMMU, July 14: District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban) today made several new appointments in a bid to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
Anil Kohli, general secretary DCC Jammu (U) was additionally appointed as Incharge president Block Congress Committee Block Number 4 (Janipur) Jammu West with immediate effect. Gurmeet Kour (Sarpanch) was appointed as general secretary DCC Jammu (U). Additionally, Satpal Sapolia was promoted as vice president DCC Jammu (U).
The appointments were made in a meeting of the DCC attended by Yogesh Sawhney, general secretary PCC & Incharge District president Jammu (U), Kanta Bhan (vice president JKPCC), Dr Ramakanth Khajuria, vice president DCC Jammu (U) and Uttam Singh, coordinator DCC Jammu (U).
DCC Jammu (U) leaders emphasized on strengthening the organization at the grassroots level and expediting development works at the booth level. They decided to revamp the district level functioning and asked the office bearers to strengthen the party at the ground level in their assigned block.
Yogesh Sawhney said that the DCC Jammu (U) will focus on strengthening the party at the booth level shortly. “Office bearers will work toward identifying issues at the grass-root level in their respective blocks and areas and their suggestions would be sought while making new decisions,” he said, adding, strengthening the party more at the grassroots level is their prime focus.
He said the Congress party, under the guidance of party leadership and High Command is taking steps to renew and augment party structures at the booth level. There will be representation for every area, every block, every mohalla and ward in the party so that all their issues can be taken into account, especially disempowered and vulnerable groups who have been neglected by the Government.
