Cong demands action against Min who ‘threatened’ Govt officer

SRINAGAR: The Legislative Assembly today started with a noisy note as Opposition Congress today demanded action against a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister for allegedly threatening a Government officer after the later refused to benefit the supporters of the former.

As soon as the Lower House resumed today, Congress Members were on their feet, demanding immediate action against the minister. Waving a copy of a local daily newspaper, MLA Nawang Rigzin Jora said that a senior Government officer has sought police protection and registration of an FIR against Minister for Transport Sunil Sharma for threatening him.

Alleging that the minister is misusing his power to benefit his supporters, Mr Jora urged Speaker Kavindra Gupta to direct the Government to take action against the minister. “The minister asked this officer to make illegal payment in favour of his supporters. However, when the officer refused the minister threatened him,” the Congress MLA alleged.

He further said that police has not registered a case against the minister so far, and requested the Speaker to direct the Government to refrain from threatening officials. Mr Jora further asked the Speaker to direct the police to register an FIR against the said minister. (AGENCIES)
