JAMMU, Jun 1: Pradesh Congress Committee leaders have expressed grave concern over the severe shortage of vaccine for the age group of 18 to 45 years, resulting into very slow vaccination besides slow and low testing and tracing and demanded that the Government should go for a vigorous campaign, especially in the villages and rural belt too, before the anti-virus third wave.
In a joint statement, several senior leaders including PCC functionaries, DDCs presidents , former minister and legislators and frontal wing heads have expressed grave concern over the shortage of vaccine and slow vaccination as well testing, tracing and treating as well adequate measures to protect the people, especially the younger generation and children from the third anticipated wave.
They said that the there is acute shortage of vaccine for age group of 18-45yrs and the youth are suffering especially in the entire Rural areas of Jammu province. The testing is very limited that too only rapid testing and not RT-PCR besides almost no tracing and the kits only on choice of the doctors.
All those things which are announced should be implemented practically but there is huge gap between claims and implementation. The only opening of covid centres in each Panchayat would not serve the poupose unless complete arrangements are made, which is impossible. The Health facilities and manpower in health institutions in rural areas is very scarce to deal with anticipated situation, they added.
They further added that the government is ignoring the fact that the casualties are still higher and till yesterday the toll was above 35, including 20 from Jammu region and this is not less as several precious lives are lost everyday. In this situation the unlocking process has to be very thoughtful and careful.
Urging the Govt to solve the issue with the transport operators as the limited unlocking would require the public transport to the common man and poor people besides employees.
They also insisted on starting emergency treatments to non- covid patients in different hospitals.
