Many couples want to travel their life journey with a baby who looks familiar and carries on their family traits. But some ladies fail their eggs prematurely due to age which is a huge reason with ovarian health. As the age of a women increases then both quantity and quality of their eggs weakens. Most of the women at the age of 40 will have very few well-being eggs and gets miscarriages in pregnancy. At that situation doctor may suggest for the choice of getting an egg donor.
What are your options if you don’t have healthy eggs?
There are different alternate selections to build a family when you don’t have healthy eggs to produce. Among them Egg Donor treatment consists of two types which are named as Fresh and Frozen donor eggs.
Fresh eggs:  Through fresh egg donors, every donor undertakes in-vitro and her eggs are retrieved in a procedure, and then mixed with either partner sperm or donor sperm. The resulting embryos are grown in the laboratory for a few days and then transferred to the recipient woman’s uterus. Typically people have enough embryos to transfer one embryo back into the uterus and cryopreserve the remaining. This can usually be coordinated in two to three months.
Frozen eggs: Generally, frozen donor eggs are slightly less expensive than fresh eggs and equally successful. The difference is that each purchased “egg percentage” includes between 5-7 eggs. Patients usually end up with fewer embryos than a fresh cycle. The goal would be to transfer one embryo and cryopreserve (freeze) the rest.
Both of these options can be extremely successful and typically have a good success rate upto 50-60% provided you have-
1) Blastocysts formation – which needs excellent labarotory conditions and skillful embryologist and definitely good egg donors with proved fertility potential
2) Healthy womb lining to accept and support the developing baby
3) Additional favorable conditions -like no associated high risk factor with normal hormonal profile of the candidate
All this is governed by certain guidelines for ART Clinics and ART banks called ICMR regulations.Based on that the donor selection is made and screened and nay pathology is ruled out in family and personal background.
Success of fresh and frozen is at par provided quality is good and is able to withstand the storage conditions and maximum it can be stored till 5 years in India as per the couple request.
