The slow and steady might win some type of race given certain assumptions but as slow as the work on District Hospital in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district was never going to win any hearts of those who have been suffering on account of inappropriate and insufficient health care for long as the District Hospital over there continues to remain incomplete even after more than a decade of the work started on it.
Is it all due to customary paucity of funds, unwarranted and unsolicited political interference or just casual approach of the concerned authorities, the result is the suffering of the people, especially those on dialysis who are forced to scurry for alternate arrangements involving cost and energy. The dialysis unit is closed at the old hospital as the machine is not operational. How strange does it look that instead of being interested in early commissioning of the hospital from the new spacious building, political parties want the credit of the construction of this hospital to be registered in their favour. The authorities must intervene to salvage the position so that the hospital building was ready as early as possible.
