Sir,
Refer article ‘Under nutrition among school going children’ DE Monday.”
The problem of under nutrition will continue to catch media headlines in the country unless the growing population in the country is contained. Whole of our efforts go in vain as burgeoning population plays havoc with our planning and plans. The prevelance of under nutrition is directly proportional to rise in population in a country like India.
The increase in prices of essential commodities is also responsible for this problem. The price rise is putting a burden on the poorman. There are simple and cost-effective interventions that can prevent and treat undernutrition. However all approaches are not effective against all types of under nutrition. There are preventive and curative intervention.
One way out could be providing nutritious food in schools. Experts in the field should recommend a diet chart and as per its guidelines, meals should be served in schools across the length and breadth of the country.
Yours etc….
