Sir,
From times old, Jammu has remained a place of attraction for pilgrims and tourists. On the banks of river Tawi, the city of Jammu exhibits its grandeur and beautiful look. The city is famous for its temple in the whole world and so is called the city of temples. Ma Kali temple, Pir Mitha, Ragunath temple and Ranbireshwar temple are really marvellous and magnanimous. Bahu fort in Jammu is a place worth to be seen. Ranbir Canal in Jammu is an engineering marvel and we are largely indebted to it being a big source for irrigation. Mansar and Surinsar lakes here attract a large number of tourists and add to the pride of Jammuites. We are having now one more artificial lake close to river Tawi as it has remained a cherished desire of the people in Jammu. Govt has also gracefully fulfilled it and agreed to go for its construction close to the river. The task of construction of Tawi Barrage was given to a National Company namely GDR. The work on the construction of Barrage is going on in full swing. 70 crores plan has been earmarked for the work on the project. Two thirds of the project work has been completed till now and now less than 1/3rd of the work remains done. It is estimated that completion of the Tawi Barrage is likely in the year end 2013-14. This artificial lake will add to the beauty of Jammu. This lake will serve Jammu in multiple ways. Not only it will be a source of irrigation but a dam for water bodies. It will be a source of recreation in Jammu for those who like to enjoy boating and swimming in the lake. The credit goes also to our State Govt. that has taken the project work of the barrage seriously keeping in view the aspirations of Jammu people.
Yours etc….
