Women not safe

Sir,
The 2001 census shows a decline in the number of females in the age group of 0-6. Government has taken many steps to curb this practice. One such step is the Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PNDT) which was passed by the Government in 1994. This Act prohibits the disclosure of the sex of the foetus and violation of the PNDT Act can result in imprisonment and fine. Even after many changes and introduction of modern technology women are not yet safe on the streets of India. Dowry is still demanded by the groom’s family. If the brides family is unable to fulfill their demands their daughter is tortured and finally killed. After the Delhi gang rape incident every girl or woman of India feels insecure to even step out of her home.
Yours etc….
