JAMMU, Sept 24: Various Institutions of Higher Education across Jammu province today celebrated NSS Foundation Day by organizing various functions in this connection.
NSS units of GGM Science College celebrated the NSS Foundation Day by organizing a function, which was inaugurated by the college Principal Dr Ajeet Angral in presence of Dr Ashok Kumar, HOD Chemistry, Dr Rajinder Singh, Dr Vinod Bakshi, NSS Programme Officers and other faculty members.
On the occasion, NSS volunteers presented a patriotic song, a skit and also spoke on the present evils in the society. Dr Ajeet Angral gave a detailed view of NSS and advised the students to become role models in the society by making awareness about the social evils. He said that NSS Volunteers should involve themselves in the development of nation in general and college in particular.
NSS Unit of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, celebrated NSS Day by organizing a motivational lecture on “Career and Counselling” for excellence in life. SSP Jammu, Dr Sunil Gupta was the Resource Person and he motivated the volunteers to be focused in their life. He also stated that digressions and distractions are the great enemies which waste the human resource and divert them to addiction and other anti-social activities. He urged them to be target oriented for utilizing the human potential which is the great strength of a nation.
The NSS volunteers presented a cultural bonanza while Prof Neelam Thapa, NSS Programme Officer presented the vote of thanks. SP South, Shehzad Salaria, SDPO South Sachin Gupta, SHO Gandhi Nagar Bishnesh Kumar and other officers from Police administration were also present on the occasion.
The NSS unit of Government Degree College, Bishnah also celebrated NSS Day with great fervor and enthusiasm. The programme began with the inspirational speech of Dr Kuldip Raj Sharma, Principal of the College. Prof Seema Mir, Dean Student’s Welfare also shared her views.
The enthusiasm of the NSS volunteers was reflected through various cultural items, which they presented on the stage, followed by NSS oath. The programme was coordinated by Dr Aksa Rao, NSS Programme Officer and supervised by Prof Preeti Dogra,
On the NSS Day today, 3-day long NSS workshop on the Topic ‘Swachh Ramnagar’, organized by NSS Unit of the Govt Degree College Ramnagar, concluded. About 110 volunteers participated in the camp under the supervision of Prof Kewal Kumar, NSS Programme Officer and guidance of the Principal, Prof Tara Nath. Dr Deepak Koul acted as resource person.
Various motivating movies were shown during the workshop while an awareness rally was also organized on the concluding day. Besides, the NSS volunteers also presented a colourful cultural programme and visited adopted primary school Thaplal to make children aware about cleanliness.‘
Government Degree College for Women Kathua, celebrated NSS Day with great fervour and enthusiasm by organizing a function, which was presided over by Principal of the college, Dr Satinder Singh.
At the outset, NSS Programme Officer, Madhvi Parasher, highlighted the role of NSS in nation building . Prof Chatterpati Sharma delivered a keynote lecture on role and history of NSS in community capacity building and betterment. Dr Satinder Singh impressed upon NSS volunteers to be harbingers of social change for better society and nation.
On the occasion, a poster making competition on the theme “ Digital India” was held in which about 20 NSS volunteers participated and Gulshan Bhagat, Stanzin Donsal and Preety Surmal were declared first, second and third respectively. NSS volunteers also enthralled audience with their colourful cultural performances.
Government College for Women, Udhampur, organized NSS Day celebration cum general orientation programme for students in general and NSS volunteers in particular.
Prof K S Koushal, Principal GCW Udhampur, inaugurated the programme and spoke about relevance and significance of NSS in the post-modern scenario. The programme was enriched by the cultural presentations by the volunteers and recitation of a poem by Dr Mool Raj, NSS programme officer.
