Bar Association suspends work, protests against ADC

UDHAMPUR, Sept 24: Up in arms against alleged misbehaviour by the ADC Udhampur with a female Advocate, the members of District Bar Association  Udhampur, today completely suspended their work in the court and held a strong protest demonstration.
The protesting Advocates also torched an effigy and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur seeking action against the ADC.
Raising slogans against the erring officer and demanding action, the protesting Advocates accused the ADC of being dictatorial and irresponsible in behaviour towards Advocate fraternity in particular and public in general.
While addressing the protesters, Advocate Surinder Khajuria, president of the District  Bar Association,  alleged that the ADC Udhampur misbehaved with a young female Advocate who had gone to his Court to attend some case. “Instead of listening to the female Advocate , the ADC used highly irresponsible language in presence of all others,” he alleged and demanded stern action against the officer besides his immediate transfer from Udhampur.
Advocate Pranav Kohli (vice-president of JKHCBA Jammu), also addressed the gathering and extended his full support to the Bar Association, Udhampur.
Others, who addressed the gathering, included Adv Yog Raj, Adv Prateek Ramotra,  Adv Karun Raina, Adv Tanya Mahajan, Adv Anil Khajuria, Adv Sunny Mahajan, Adv Akhil Khajuria, Adv Mahadeep Singh, Adv Pawan Handa, Adv Vijay Kumar and  Adv Akhil Dubey.
Later, the Bar Association also passed a detailed resolution and submitted the same to Deputy Commissioner Udhampur for seeking necessary action against the erring officer.
