JAMMU, May 13: All J&K Home Guards Welfare Association has urged the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to implement Supreme Court (SC) order on regularization of Home Guards in the State.
Addressing a press conference here today, Kamla Sharma, president of the association, along with other office bearers of the association, said that Home Guards have been rendering their devoted services to the State for past about 20 years but they have been ignored and deprived of regularization of their services and presently meager wages are being paid to them which does not meet even few days meals of their family members.
Sharma said that Supreme Court of India had been kind enough to pass orders for regularization of services of Home Guards and the orders have been implemented by Government of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab etc, except J&K.
“Despite approaching different Ministers in Government of India including Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, and getting favourable assurances from them, nothing was done till date”, she said and demanded the State Government to ensure implementation of SC orders in letter and spirit at par with Governments of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.
The JKHGWA president appealed the Chief Minister for implementing SC orders in letter and spirit in the State by ensuring regularization of Home Guards to fulfill their long pending genuine demand.
Dr Rekha Singh, Sobha Singh, Arjun Singh, Raghubir Singh, Joginder Singh, Rakesh Singh and Raju were also present on the occasion.
