CLP meet chalks out prog for Secretariat `Gherao’

SRINAGAR, May 8: Congress Legislature Party today discussed the prevailing political scenario in the State and also chalked out strategy to conduct Gherao of Civil Secretariat here tomorrow.
The CLP meeting was held under the chairmanship of JKPCC chief   GA Mir while all the party MLAs, MLCs and senior Party functionaries attended it.The CLP discussed the prevailing scenario in the State and current issues confronting people.
Threadbare discussions were held with regard to deferment of Anantnag By elections and delay in ULB elections, Rehabilitation package for flood affected people, interference in Universities and other Educational Institutions, Food Security Act, back door appointments in Government departments, regularization of daily rated workers of PHE and others departments, Service Tax on  Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra, withdrawal of Security of Congress Party leaders, and doing away with the practice of camp Secretariat etc.
The CLP discussed the Secretariat `Geharo’ and `Dharna’ programme being organized by the Congress Party on  May 9 to register its strong protest against the  anti- people policies and callous attitude of the State Govt towards the issue people are facing across the State.
Recent innocent killings and law and order problem in district Kupwara and elsewhere also came under discussion. While expressing serious concern over the   killings, the CLP has sought an end to innocent killings.
Expressing concern over the difficulties confronting people due to  the wrong policies of the Coalition Govt the CLP blamed  both PDP and BJP for adopting double standards while dealing with the issues concerning people.
Discussing the hasty and faulty implementation of Food Security Act in the State, the CLP asserted that the Act was implemented in haste without adequate ground work and in the absence of discussion and debate in the State Legislature over the implications.
Entire distribution system has been derailed and people are deprived of ration facilities.
Criticizing the State Govt for imposing service tax on Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra, the CLP felt anguished over this move of the Govt and sought immediate roll back of the service tax, keeping in view the religious sentiments of the people over the issue.
Regularization of daily rated workers and casual labours working in PHE and other departments was also discussed, the CLP hit out at the State Govt for failing to address genuine demands of casual labour of PHE and other departments, resulting in the water supply in rural area was badly affected.
Criticizing the Govt for abandoning the practice of having summer secretariat and winter secretariat after the Darbar move to other region, the CLP said that this move of the Govt would deprive the people of other region to have approach to the Govt for a period of six months and impressed upon the Govt to immediately restore the past practice in this regard.
The CLP also condemned the State Government for withdrawing and downsizing the Security Cover of Congress Party functionaries and discriminating with them merely on political vendetta.
