Clashes kill 7 soldiers, 20 militants in northwest Pakistan

PESHAWAR :  At least seven soldiers and 20 militants were killed today in separate incidents of violence in Pakistan’s restive northwest tribal region where the military has launched a major offensive against the Taliban.
Twenty Taliban militants were killed by the security forces during the clearance operation named Khyber-I in Lower Orakzai agency of Khyber tribal district where forces have been battling terrorists for the past one month.
Six soldiers were killed and five others injured in the clash.
In a separate incident in Bajaur agency, one soldier was killed and another injured when a bomb went off.
Security forces launched a search operation soon after the blast.
Army has said that more than 1,100 terrorists were killed in Zarb-i-Azb operation launched against Taliban in North Waziristan in mid-June while around 50 were killed in Khyber-I offensive against militants in the Khyber tribal district. (AGENCIES)
