Civil Society celebrates Lohia’s birthday

JAMMU, Jan 17: As a Civil Society Initiative Hemant Kumar Lohia Memorial Charitable Trust Jammu organized Bhajan Sandhya and Seminar on the Life and Achievements of Lohia, to mark birth anniversary of former DG Prisons J&K Police.
Swami Vijayeshananda Maharaj from Rama Krishna Mission Jammu and Ajay Kumar & Party enthralled the audience with bhajans and songs. The programme started with lighting of traditional lamp by the dignitaries and wreath laying was performed on the portrait of Lohia. Everyone offered flowers and remembered the contributions and achievements of Lohia with special reference to Jammu & Kashmir.
Nisha Pandita conducted the proceedings while the welcome address and vote of thanks were presented by Rajiv Khajuria, Patron and Virender Gupta, President & Managing Trustee of the HKLM Charitable Trust.
The guests of honour who attended and spoke on the life and achievements of H.K. Lohia in the programme include Kuldeep Khoda former DG, Alok Kumar DG Fire Services J&K, Ashok Bhan Former DG, J.P. Singh, Jagjeet Kumar Former IGs and Kapil Sharma, Special Secretary Youth Services & Sports.
All the speakers highlighted the meritorious presences rendered by Lohia to Jammu & Kashmir. The speakers lauded the contribution of Lohia in Anti-Militancy operations and termed him as a successful officer who not only performed well in Policing but also won the hearts of the communities and general public.
Managing Trustee Virender Gupta emphasized that the formation of this Trust is a tribute to Lohia who always stood for poor and needy. He further added that Trust will mainly work for charitable activities and for empowering children, youth, women & older people.
The Trustees present on the occasion include Vikram Garg, Arti Sharma, Ashiq Bhat, Daleep Dhar and Shruti Agarwal.
