JAMMU, Feb 24: Rajiv Chuni, Chairman of the SOS International-a prominent organization of PoK Displaced Persons, has demanded raising of Poonch, Mirpur and Muzaffarabad Scouts for effectively guarding the Line of Control along Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that raising of Poonch, Mirpur and Muzaffarabad Scouts will serve twin purpose of ensuring more purposeful guard on the Line of Control as well as employment to the educated youth of Displaced Community from PoK, who are always ready to serve their motherland.
While elaborating on the issue, Rajiv Chuni said that the present arrangement of guarding the Line of Control has witnessed some flaws in ensuring foolproof security along the border with Pakistan, which has had been creating trouble for India. “Despite commitment and dedication of our brave security forces and Indian Army, the deployed troops from other parts of the country along LoC find it difficult to affectively discharge their duties because of inadequate communication with the locals due to language problem and topography of the border terrain,” he explained.
“Only we people (Displaced community) fully understand the topography of our area and language of the inhabitants along both sides of the border,” he said reiterating that the PoK DPs were always ready to serve their motherland and even make supreme sacrifice for the nation, which have had been doing since generations.
Maintaining that formation of Poonch, Mirpur and Muzaffarabad Scouts will also serve the purpose of according employment to the educated youth of the PoK Displaced community, Rajiv Chuni said that guarding the Line of Control by these Scouts would be like protecting their own homes because of their origin and emotional attachment with the motherland of their forefathers.
Lambasting the Modi Government for its failure to protect the borders and lives of people here, the SOS International Chairman said that cosmetic arrangements and making false claims for playing to the gallery would serve no purpose, either to the nation or people. “As the Lok Sabha elections are approaching nearer, the BJP is trying to divert attention of the country from real issues to once again befool general masses but people will not trust on repeated `Jumlas’ this time and give a befitting reply to those who did nothing in last five years,” he said.
