Christmas celebrated with enthusiasm

JAMMU, Dec 23: Various educational institutions and social organizations celebrated Christmas with great fanfare and enthusiasm.
KCS College of Education (Women) organised a cultural programme to celebrate Christmas. Principal of the college OP Sharma in his inaugural speech said that majority of the people in the world are the followers of Christianity. On the occasion, students presented various cultural items including songs, skits, poem recitation, jokes, etc. Deepti Gupta, convener, College Cultural Committee, Nitika Sharma, members and faculty members were also present.
Model Academy and Humming Buds organised a colorful function to mark the celebrations of Christmas and New Year in both its BC Road and Residency Road branches. On the occasion, students presented various items including Christmas carols sung by the choir group and a skit by the students of Dramatic Club. Chairman Dr Arun Gupta, Director Renu Gupta, Joint Director Dr Adit Gupta, Principal, Rupa Gupta, Usha Gadoo, Vice Principal, Komal Raina, Manju Wali, incharge Cultural Committee were also present.
Bhartiya College of Education, Udhampur in collaboration with Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur celebrated Christmas with gaiety and enthusiasm. Dr Nutan Resutra, Principal PG College (Boys) Udhampur was the chief guest whereas Rakesh Jamwal, Joint Director Planning, Yash Sharma, District Social Welfare Officer, Udhampur and Prof Rajesh Gupta, HOD Physics, PG College Udhampur and Prof Sukham Chand, Principal of the college were also present. The students of the college presented very attractive and fascinating cultural items based on the theme of Christmas and moral values.
Christmas was celebrated in the premises of Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School today with lot of mirth and religious fervour. A special assembly was conducted on the occasion. The students presented cultural extravaganza, wherein they exhibited the real spirit of Christmas. Principal Sr Rosamma motivated everybody to kindle the light of Christmas and keep it burning bright in their hearts and to spread by warmth and light all round. The students and the staff visited various charitable organizations and Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal.
May Fair Higher Secondary School, Chand Nagar and May Fair High School, Janipur also celebrated Christmas with enthusiasm and zeal. Youngsters were attired as Santa Clause and fairies. The toddlers presented cultural items based on the theme of Christmas. The school choir presented Christmas Carols and ‘Jingle Bells’ in their melodious voice. Chairman of the school Vijay Basur and Director Abhay Basur were also present.
During weeklong celebration of Christmas, the tiny tots and teachers of MV International School today visited Garrison Church and attended the prayer. Earlier, Principal encouraged the students to visit such important places, which carries great in civilization.
Satya Public School, Channi Himmat celebrated Christmas with pomp and show in the school premises. On the occasion, students presented various cultural items including action songs, group songs, religious sings, skits and prayers. Toddlers also performed action songs. Chairman Surinder Gupta and Neeru Gupta were also present.
Sprawling Buds School, Laxmipuram, Bantalab also celebrated Christmas with festive spirit. The celebration started with a moral skit “Be Good and Do Good”, followed by speeches on the importance of the day by the students. On the occasion, Christmas Tree and Snow Man making competitions were also organised, in which students participated actively. In Christmas tree making competition, Mahima, Kunjal and Pranoy emerged winners, while, in Snow Man making competition, Aryan Raina, Ritesh and Ishita secured first, second and third positions respectively. Principal Puja Sharma educated the students about the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Christmas was celebrated by Happy Hours Nursery School, Rehari Colony with pomp and show. The toddlers attired as Santa Claus distributed sweets among other students and also danced on the tunes of Christmas songs.
All J&K Christian Welfare Association organised a Christmas celebration function at Mother Teresa Home, Janipur. On the occasion, SM Gill, Ex-MLC and State president of the association cut the Christmas cake. Philip John, Featus Sotra, Pastor Odhay Singh, Priest, Incharge St Paul Church were also present.
