Chopper ferrying officers makes emergency landing

REASI, Feb 24: A major tragedy was averted today when Pawan Hans chopper ferrying two senior officers among seven passengers made emergency landing at Jyotipuram area of Reasi, following some technical snag.

The chopper was carrying Sheetal Nanda, Commissioner/ Secretary, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj J&K and Sudershan Kumar, Director RDD and Panchayati Raj.
Two children and an official of J&K Bank, identified as Mushtaq Ahmed were also onboard when the chopper made emergency landing and all are safe.
As per the information, the chopper was going from Jammu to Kishtwar when it had to make emergency landing at Jyotipuram Ram Leela Ground around 10:30 am due to some technical snag.
“There was some technical fault that forced the Pilot to go for emergency landing in vacant area enroute,” said the official, adding that there were total seven persons onboard, including Pilot and Co Pilot.
The successful emergency landing averted a major tragedy. The officers later on returned to Jammu in afternoon through a motor vehicle and chopper flew back without carrying any passenger.
