Chib inaugurates 2-day Prof Nazir Ahmad Khan Boxing Championship

SRINAGAR, Oct 14: Minister for Youth Services and Sports R S Chib today inaugurated 2-day Prof Nazir Ahmad Khan District Boxing Championship (Boys and Girls) at Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, here today.
The Boxing Championship for boys and girls was organized by the District Srinagar Amature Boxing Association to commemorate the contributions of Prof Nazir Ahmad Khan for promoting sports in general and Boxing in particular.
Speaking on the occasion, Chib paid rich tributes to Prof. Nazir and highlighted his contributions for promotion of Boxing in the Valley. He lauded the efforts of the organizers for organizing such events, adding that it is the best way to pay tribute to those whose have contributed a lot in their respective fields.
Chib said Boxing improves physical capacity, strength, power, endurance, coordination, aerobic and anaerobic fitness. He said, in Boxing, the participant is himself responsible for his success and failure which develops sense of accountability, self-confidence, work ethics and sportsmanship.
He said the Government is making all out efforts to provide   adequate sports infrastructure to the players which enable them to compete at international and national levels, adding that various initiatives have been taken in this regard.
Among others, Joint Secretary, J&K State Sports Council (K) Prof Bashir Ahmad Shah, President, District Srinagar Amature Boxing Association Nasir Khan, Vice-President  District Srinagar Amature Boxing Association Mr. Mohammad Ali, members of Boxing Association, participants and sports lovers were also present on the occasion.
