SRINAGAR, Oct 14: A delegation of All Migrant Camps Coordination Committee (AMCCC) called on Union Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde and apprised him of the problems being faced by the migrants in the State.
AMCCC Chairman, Desh Ratan Pandita told Excelsior that the delegation appealed the Home Minister that cash assistance being provided by the Government to the migrants should be enhanced from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000. He said that the issue of return of Kashmiri Pandits should be assessed at the ground level so that the conditions are made favourable for their return.
The return of Kashmiri Pandits living outside the State also came up for discussion between the AMCCC delegation and the Home Minister. The AMCCC delegation urged the Home Minister to use his influence and impress upon the State Government to set a time frame for the regularization of the daily wagers working in the various departments.
“The issue of lack of jobs in the Government sector was also raised during the meeting. We stressed the need of at least one Government job to member of each family in the State. There are families whose five or six family members are working in the Government while as there are others where no family member has a Government job, he added.
