REASI, Sept 30: While the police has failed to arrest the teacher who was absconding after committing rape on a 12th class girl student in the school premises during recess time in Mahore area, the Chief Education Officer Reasi placed the teacher Ghulam Hussain under suspension on Saturday and ordered an inquiry into the role of Principle of the Higher Secondary School, Chhajru and circumstances which led to the incident in the school premises.
The CEO, K K Gupta took the action against the teacher after eight days of the incident and only after the report was published in the Press. The teacher was un-authorisedly absent from duty for more than two weeks. Moreover, the FIR was lodged against teacher on September 21, 2012. While, it was alleged that political influence was being exerted on police to hush up the case, strong resentment was brewing among the local people, who alleged that their daughters were not safe in the Government schools of this area.
Talking to Excelsior, the CEO Reasi disclosed that teacher, Ghulam Hussain, son of Fayaz Ahmed, presently posted at Govt Higher Secondary School Chhajru has been placed under suspension after the news appeared in the news papers and he received the copy of an FIR against him. He further claimed that Principal of the School did not report the matter to him and he came to know about it through media. An inquiry committee has been constituted to look into the role of School Principal Ashok Dogra and will submit its report to the Director for further action. He said ZEO Arnas and two Principals of Higher Secondary School Mahore and Dharmari will conduct inquiry and submit report within two weeks.
Meanwhile, Mahore police has registered a case FIR No. 76/2012 under section 376 RPC against teacher, Ghulam Hussain, but it has failed to arrest him so far. The police said the parents of the girl lodged an FIR on September 21 and the police parties were sent to different directions. The incident took place during recess time on September 3 in the school premises. The teacher called the girl, Shamim Akhtar (name changed) inside the room and offered some stuff. Then he committed rape on her. The girl was later hospitalized at Mahore and was then referred to GMC Jammu. Her parents told police that girl was very upset and used to weep frequently. During her stay in hospital in Jammu, she broke down and narrated the incident to her mother. Over this, the family then rushed to Mahore and lodged an FIR. The girl told that teacher offered some stuff and she became unconscious and she came to know later that she was sexually assaulted.
SHO Mahore, Arun Kotwal claimed that teacher could not be traced despite raids. The locals have demanded that special investigation team be constituted by SSP Reasi in this case otherwise, they will launch agitation.
