LEH, May 29: LAHDC Leh Chairman Advocate Tashi Gyalson and Member of Parliament Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal jointly inaugurated Gujarat House in University of Ladakh (UoL) at Taru Campus as part of cultural exchange programme.
On the occasion Vice-Chancellor UoL Prof S K Mehta, Director Indian Institute of Sustainability Sudhanshu Jangir, Prof Neena Mehta Dean Academic Affairs Rayat Bahra University, Prof Deskyong Namgial Dean Academic Affairs UoL, Taru campus Director Konchok Angmo and Dr Nainesh Modi Gujarat University were present.
Gujarat House have five sections, the first showcasing the culture of Gujarat, second dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi and his values, third displaying rural art & culture of Gujarat, fourth on Gujarat University and fifth including selfie zone with antique furniture and pots from Gujarat.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mehta emphasized on the need to take the collaboration strongly ahead. He talked about the other engagements that UoL has with IIM, IIT Jammu. Appreciating the support of UT Administration, the VC also mentioned the opening of Geo-Museum on campus and committed more such exchange programs in near future.
Prof Himanshu Pandya said that Gujarat University being number one, the oldest and largest university of Gujarat, is ready to support and collaborate with University of Ladakh for joint programs, collaborative research, students exchange etc. He also added that recent launch of Indian Institute of Sustainability Ladakh can help region Ladakh in the area of water conservation, sustainable tourism, agriculture entrepreneurship, and waste management.
On the occasion, Gujarat University extended formal invitation to the students of University of Ladakh to take the leverage of action and exposure oriented courses of Indian Institute of Sustainability.
