Case registered against rumour mongers, hardware shop sealed

JAMMU, Mar 28: A case has been registered against rumour mongers for spreading fake news regarding two positive cases of COVID-19 in Jagti Block 172.
As per police sources, a FIR was lodged under Section 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) of the India Penal Code, 1860 (IPC) in Nagrota Police Station against unidentified persons who are alleged to be indulged in spreading rumours about Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
A case under FIR Number 146/2020 has been registered against some person, who spread rumours that two cases of Jagti block 172 have been found positive and block has been sealed.
Jammu Police has warned of strict action against rumour-mongers who spread misleading and unverified information on social media regarding COVID-19.
SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma has also appealed to all to publish or share news related to Coronavirus after confirming it from authorized sources.
Meanwhile, while patrolling in Chacha Chowk area, a team from Narwal Police Post led by Inspector Khyatimaan Khajuria finds a Hardware Shop on the name and title M/s Haji Hardware Store violating the DM Jammu order and sealed it.
A case under FIR Number 101/20 under Section 188 IPC has been registered against the owner of the store identified as
Haji Imtiyaz Khan, son of Nazir Mohammad Khan of Narwal Bala Bye pass and investigation started.
