Around 10 lakh persons with disabilities were highly disappointed when the State Finance Minister didn’t utter a word for their empowerment and development. The rehabilitation of persons with disabilities was not mentioned. The persons with disabilities in J&K State face immense challenges and had expected that the coming Budget will include persons with disabilities by giving them: Employment opportunities, access to ongoing infrastructure, 3% Budget benefits, Increase in social security pension for severe persons with disabilities. The coverage of around 30000 disabled people under ISSS. Access to information and justice. The Finance Minister had earlier promised that budget benefits would be given to the persons with disabilities.
The cold shoulder treatment to persons with disabilities will keep us around a decade backward than the present status.
