BSP celebrates Mayawati’s birthday as Jan Kalyan Divas

JAMMU, Jan 15: State unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today celebrated the birthday of  party president and former UP Chief Minister Kumari Mayawati as `Jan Kalyan Divas’ and pledged to strengthen the Bahujan movement in the State.
Party Coordinator for J&K, Choudary Gurnam Singh was the chief guest on the occasion while newly elected State president of the party, Tarsem Khullar presided over the function at party headquarters Narwal Pain in Satwari.  The party leaders and workers had prepared a special cake which was cut by Coordinator and State president and it was distributed among the party activists. They greeted their leader and prayed for her long life and good health.
The party leaders also distributed 500 blankets among the poor people on this occasion as this day is celebrated by the BSP activists as `Jan Kalyan Divas’.
Ch Gurnam while speaking on the occasion said that After Kanshi Ram, Kumari Mayawati took over the reigns of the party in difficult situation and she strengthened it further.  She formed Govt in Utter Pradesh four times and even remained Chief Minister. She has sacrificed a lot for the party. After Kanshi Ram ji she is the only Dalit leader who made debut in Indian politics. He asked the party activists to come forward and further strengthen the party. Referring to the recently held elections in the State, Mr Choudhary said that there is need to strengthen the movement in the State.
Tarsem Khullar also spoke on the occasion and appealed the party activists to strengthen the movement and carry the policies and programmes of the party up to the masses. He further asked the party workers to strengthen the hands of Kumari Mayawati. A cultural programme was also presented by famous sufi singer Dev Dildar with the missionary songs sung by him.
Prominent among others who spoke/ present on the occasion included Tulsi Dass Langeh (ex-president), Tilak Raj Bhagat, Ashok Bhagat, Raja Singh, Ram Kumar, Piran Ditta, Rakesh Wazir, Jawahar Singh, OP Digra, J R Verma, Ravinder Singh, Dr Harjeet, A S Mottan, Raj Kumar Bhagat and Mohinder Kashyap.
