JAMMU, May 4: State unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today held strong protest demonstration against the wrong policies of NDA Government at the Centre and BJP-PDP in the State.
The protest programme was held under the leadership of State president of the party Tarsem Khullar while National general secretary of the Party and in-charge J&K and Punjab Narinder Kashyap (MP) and Gurnam Choudhary, State coordinator of the party were the special invitees. A large number of party leaders, office bearers and workers participated in the day long programme.
While addressing large gathering, Mr Kashyap pointed out that Central and State Governments have adopted anti-people policies since they came into power. The BSP has taken very serious view of their working. He said that BSP has taken strong note of the BJP’s anti-farmers’ Amendment Bill with regard to Land Acquisition Act. Not only farmers but many other major political parties have strongly opposed this Bill. It is totally against the interests of the farmers. This is just to appease Corporate Houses.
He pointed out that farmers in the State have also suffered huge losses due to rains, floods and hailstorm. The Government has failed to provide any relief to the farmers. The poor and small farmers are leading to starvation. In other States also the farmers have been affected with rains and hail-storm. The farmers facing the brunt of weather, are facing starvation. Many farmers are committing suicides. They are not being helped by the Government. Due to anti-farmer policies of the Government this is happening in the country, Mr Kashyap maintained.
The BSP leader demanded that Government must come to the rescue of the farmers without any more delay. He said the party has launched country wide programme against the NDA Government and beginning has been made from the North India.
Gurnam Choudhary and Tarsem Khullar also addressed the gathering and criticized the State Government for anti-poor, anti-youth and anti-farmer policies. They alleged that new recruitment policy of the State Government has badly affected the SC/ST youth and moreover, contractual appointments for seven years have shocked the educated youth of the State. They demanded compensation for the farmers whose crops have been damaged. The OBC are being provided just 2 % reservation and they should be covered under Mandal Commission recommendations.
