JAMMU, May 4: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Viklang Chattra Trust through its organizer Satya Pal Saraf seeking better care of old age home, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today issued directions for filing fresh status report indicating the steps initiated for the construction of composite homes.
When the PIL came up for hearing, AAG Ravinder Gupta on behalf of Social Welfare Department stated that a land measuring 16 kanals situated at village Bhalwal has been identified for construction of composite home and some steps have already been taken by the Revenue authorities.
After going through the status report, DB observed, “nothing has been stated with regard to land for construction of a similar composite home at Srinagar. This report appears to be contradictory to the earlier filed by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu wherein it was stated that 16 kanals of land has been identified in the villages of Sri Khurd and Panjgraina in Nagrota tehsil and a similar chunk of land at Samboora Tehsil Pampore”.
With regard to confusion created between the two reports, Senior AAG Seema Shekhar submitted that she will clarify the stand by next date of hearing. Accordingly, Division Bench directed respondents to file fresh status report regarding the complete steps taken for identifying the land as also the steps initiated for the construction of the composite homes.
