Srinagar Aug 28: A girl was stabbed to death by a youth who later attempted suicide in Bandipora district of north Kashmir today.
The girl and the boy had gone to Boothu area, a picnic spot. The youth first stabbed the girl to death and later tried to kill himself by stabbing.
Police reached the spot after being informed by locals. Both were referred to district hospital Bandipora where doctors declared the girl dead while the boy Mudasir Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir of Mantrigam, Bandipora has been referred to SKIMS Soura in critical conditions.
The deceased girl has been identified as Shahista Shah daughter of Showkat Shah of Onagam, Bandipora.
Police have filed a case and investigations are underway to know the reasons behind the stabbing.
