Bovines smuggling bid foiled, driver arrested

RAMBAN, July 22: Batote police foiled bovines smuggling bid by rescuing 7 cattle and arresting a driver.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Batote police station laid a naka on the North Portal side of Chenani-Nashri tunnel and signaled a vehicle bearing registration number JK09-9232 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police rescued 7 bovine animals tied beneath the fruit boxes and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Mohammad Rafi, son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Dwarha Sidhra Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 50/17 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at Batote police station and hunt has been launched to arrest the associate of the arrested driver, who managed to escape from the spot.
Police team led by SHO Batote Inspector Vijay Choudhary foiled the bovines smuggling bid and made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Imtiyaz Ahmed and SSP Ramban Mohan Lal.
