SAMBA, July 16: In continuation with its tirade against the menace of illicit trade of drugs and liquor, Samba Police arrested a bootlegger and recovered 14 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession in the jurisdiction of PS Ghagwal.
Acting on reliable information, a police party of PP Rajpura laid a strong vehicle checking naka at Sarthian Bridge, Rajpura and intercepted an Alto Maruti Car bearing Registration Number. UP15AK-3114 moving towards Samba via Rajpura-Mawa border road.
During checking of the car, a total of 14 bottles {12 bottles (750 ml each) of Silky Studs Prestige Whisky and two bottles (180 ml each) of JK Special Whisky} of illicit liquor were recovered. The accused person was identified as Karnail Singh, S/o Kartar Singh R/O Khora, Rajpura. He has been arrested on spot and contraband item was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 74/2020 U/S 48(a) Excise Act registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
