RAMNAGAR, July 6: Madan Lal Sharma, former Minister and former Member Parliament criticized the Government for not following guidelines for utilization of funds under Border Area Development Programme (BADP).
He said that the actual beneficiaries prescribed under the scheme are not benefited, instead some blue eyed are supported under the scheme which is not only the violation but also is the defeat to very purpose of the scheme.
Mr Sharma also paid the homage to Shaheed Gurdeep Singh Soni at his native village Palauta in Ramgarh area of Vijaypur and laid wreath.
He lauded the role of the martyr in preserving the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
Mr Sharma said that a soldier works throughout to safe guard borders to give us a peaceful life, to maintain the sovereignty and integrity of the nation as such it becomes duty of the State to reciprocate and provide him all basic amenities.
Mr Sharma demanded immediate waiver off VAT from Canteen items to facilitate families of both serving and Ex-Servicemen.
He also raised the issues of refugees, border inhabitants, quota for Jatts, increase in quota for OBCs and inclusion of Border villages in RBA.
S. Manjit Singh Ex. Minister also paid homage to Shaheed Gurdeep Singh Soni and lauded the role of said martyr during the Kargil war. Others present on the occasion included Ashwani Sharma, MLA, S. Mohan Singh, Manjeet Kour, Col Tora, S Balwant Singh Nagra, Ex Capt Harnam Singh, Ex Capt Baljit Singh, S Ajit Singh, Parshotam and Prem Singh.
