Kaka wins Salal Kesari; Balwan lifts URJA Kesari title

KATRA, July 6: Kaka of R S Pura Jammu clinched the 76th Annual Salal Kesari title, defeating Sukha of Rajasthan in 9 minutes long bout, while Balwan Singh of Mahore won URJA Kesari title, outplaying Dalbir Singh of Danda Baghan Reasi in 12 minutes long bout at Kambal Danga in Reasi today.
Dangal was organized by JAI Peer Baba Dangal Committee, MARI Kambal Danga in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision its president Shiv Kumar Sharma, Sarpanch Masheshwar Singh and Advocate Pawan Dev Singh, chief organizer.
Winner and runners-up wrestlers of first malli bout of Salal Kesari title were awarded with cash prize of Rs 12,000 and Rs 9,000 respectively by chief guest, General Manager NHPC Salal Power Station Jyotipuram, A G Ansari, treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, Shiv Kumar Sharma and DySP Reasi, Ashok Kumar.
The winner and runners-up wrestlers of the URGA Kesari title 2014 were awarded with cash prize of Rs 6,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively by GM NHPC Salal, Sarpanch Maheshwar Singh and Advocate Pawan Dev Singh.
Around 114 wrestlers drawn from within and outside the State participated in the event.
In all 61 bouts were played in the one day long dangal and expenditure of Rs 1,55,000 has been incurred for conducting the event.
