KATHUA, Oct 1: On the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, the Department of Immunohaemotology and Blood Transfusion Medicine of Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua and ISBTi in collaboration with JK Blood Donors Society organized a voluntary blood donation camp today.
The camp was inaugurated by Dr Anjali Nadir Bhat, Principal, GMC Kathua. Other dignitaries who attended the function include Dr Chitra Vaishnavi (Medical Superintendent, Associated Hospital, GMC Kathua), Dr Deepak Abrol (HoD Department of Radiotherapy) and Dr Ankush Bhargav (Executive Member, ISBTi).
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anjali Nadir Bhat appraised the need for increasing the voluntary blood donation in providing safe and quality blood to the needy patients. She said that any healthy individual who is 18-65 years of age can donate blood four times in a year and save several precious lives.
The volunteers of JK Blood Donor Society who participated include Gaganpreet Singh, Sandeep Manjotra, Amneet Singh, Abhinav, Ravi Kant and others. The Blood Bank team was led by Dr Sonia Gupta (I/c Department of Immunohaemotology and Blood Transfusion Medicine, GMC Kathua), who appealed the general public to come forward and donate blood voluntarily.
