Blackout in Sawjian LoC villages for one month

POONCH, Jan 3: Amidst total black out in Sawjian LoC village and adjoining hamlets in Mandi tehsil for the last over one month, the locals of the area staged protest at Sawjian and sought intervention of District Administration. They also shouted loud slogans against Power Development Department (PDD).
Local villager Ghulam Mohd Jan said that Sawjian area is reeling under darkness for over one month as local 25 KV Transformer was damaged. He said about 15 electric transformers said to have been damaged in Mandi tehsil duing last over one month but the power could not be restored.
The protesters were demanding restoration of electricity in this area as soon as possible as the people are badly suffering during these harsh cold days. They alleged that people are paying fatty bills to the PDD every month but the PDD has failed to provide service to the consumers. No body takes cognizance of the default on the part of Govt agency while the public is panelised for any minor default in their part. The new Govt has even abolished the consumer courts and where the public should move for their grievances, he added.
He said among all other sufferers, school going children cannot do their home work because of the non availability of light at their homes.
After shouting slogans against the PDD, they staged dharna on the road with the result movement of the vehicles came to halt for several hours. People alleged that for the past more than one month, they have been badly suffering and water supply has also been badly hit with it. They also demanded that power curtailment should also be reduced.
