BJYM leader warns Govt against harassing package employees

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 23: Expressing concern over the plight of migrant employees posted in Kashmir Valley, Chetan Wanchoo, media secretary, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) J&K has castigated the administration for ordering withholding of salaries of the Prime Ministers Package employees who are unable to resume their working after target killings in Kashmir.
In a statement issued to media here, today, the BJYM leader accused the administration of resorting to blatant violation of the humanitarian law by acting arbitrarily on the most genuine issue of the migrant employees whose families are bound to reach the brink of starvation if their salaries are withheld for long. He said that these employees are already facing unprecedented harassment and it is really an irony that instead of addressing their genuine issues the administration has rolled out a draconian order to withhold their salaries.
Chetan Wanchoo asserted that the administration is duty bound to provide safe and secure atmosphere to every individual of the society across the UT. Since the conditions in Kashmir Valley are yet to be safe and secure for the minority community including the migrant employees appointed under PM Package and the Jammu based employees working in the Valley, the Government has no right to compel such employees to join their offices in the Valley where they have grave risk to their lives. He said that asking the said employees to join their offices in Kashmir or passing orders for coercive and stringent action against them is purely a violation of their fundamental right to life.
He warned the Union Territory Administration against harassing the migrant and the Jammu based employees working in the Valley who are sitting on a protest demonstration and appealing to the administration to address their quite genuine woes involving threat to their lives at the hands of militants in Kashmir.
