Jammu, July 21: Compelled by the act of betrayal committed by BJP, AIIMS Coordination Committee today revived its agitation for establishment of AIIMS in Jammu.
The commitment of members of AIIMS CC who joined the chain hunger strike near Maharaja Hari Singh’s statute on River Tawi was manifest when all the members remained undeterred by the incessant rains and promised to accomplish their target at all costs.
The chairman of AIIMS CC and president JKHBAJ, Abhinav Sharma described the behaviour of BJP leadership of the state as well as of the Center as the betrayal of the people of Jammu. “It is a classical example of treachery of those who in 2014 pinned full faith in the BJP hoping that it would reverse the hegemonic politics imposed on Jammu Province”, lamented Abhinav Sharma while addressing the large gathering.
Describing the inability of the BJP leadership to fulfil their written commitment to the Coordination Committee of getting a formal announcement pertaining to the establishment of AIIMS in Jammu from its own BJP led NDA Government as a unique example of walking away, Abhinav Sharma said that it is for the first time in the political history of the country that any political party in such a brazen manner breached the trust of the people who voted them to power.
Now we will not talk to anyone. Our only goal is AIIMS for Jammu. We will achieve it at whatever cost and the AIIMS CC enjoys unstinted popular support in the entire Jammu region, stated Abhinav Sharma.
The anger and the feeling of betrayal was manifest in the speeches of all the speakers who spoke on the occasion. The disenchantment was clearly visible across the entire spectrum of civil society organizations who are part of the AIIMS CC. All of them resolved in one voice to leave no stone unturned to get their demand of establishing AIIMS in Jammu fulfilled.
The AIIMS CC has appealed to the people of Jammu region to get prepared for a long drawn mass movement to correct the situation in the extremely discriminated Jammu Province. They have also warned the biased and vindictive authorities of serious consequences of spurning the peaceful attitude of the Coordination Committee and declared that henceforth the AIIMS CC will not be responsible for any toward incident in the region.
Those who sat on hunger strike included Rakesh Gupta and Deepak Aggarwal, Narayan Singh, Jagdish Dogra, Dr Ajay Churngoo, Davinder Chowdhary, K B Jandiyal, Dr C L Gupta, Inderjeet Khajuria, Piran Ditta, Madan Rangila, Rajinder Singh, Shashi Verma, Raj Kumar, Dr Vikas Sharma, Sunita Sharma, Dr Gurmeet Singh, Ram Lal Dogra, Avinash Bhatia, Kapil Sharma, Dheeraj Pargal, Ranjit Singh, Kasturi Lal Sharma, Sardar Harbans Singh, Sardar Gajan Singh, Krishan Manhas, and Kesar Singh.
