BJP leader succumbs

SRINAGAR, Aug 10 : The Bhartiya Janta Party OBC Morcha district president Abdul Hamid Najar, who was shot at by militants yesterday in Ompora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, succumbed to his injuries at SMHS hospital this morning.

Najar, 38, was district president of Budgam BJP Other Backward Class (OBC) Morcha. Najar was shot at yesterday morning when he was on morning walk near Railway Station.
The attack on Najar was the fourth attack on BJP leader since June in Jammu and Kashmir.
On August 6 militants had shot dead a BJP Sarpanch outside his residence at Vessu in Kulgam district of Kashmir.
Prior to that a BJP Panch was shot at in Qazigund who is battling for his life at SKIMS.
In Bandipora area of North Kashmir, a BJP leader and his brother and father were killed by militants last month. Militants today made an abortive bid to blow the house of a PDP Panch in Devar village of Tral in South Kashmir.
Militants hurled a grenade at the house of a PDP Panch Bupinder Singh at Devar Tral. However, the grenade exploded outside his house and no loss of life or injury was reported.
