MAHARAJGANJ, May 16: Congress general secretary ( Uttar Pradesh East) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has alleged that BJP was just doing publicity now and did nothing else during its five year rule.
“They were first only in publicity and on the other hand the farmers, youths and poor are facing all types of problems,” she said while questioning about the sitting BJP candidate, who is a five time MP of what he had done for the constituency and its people.
Addressing an election meeting in support of journalist turned Congress candidate Supriya Srinate here on Thursday, Ms Priyanka alleged that the insurance premium of the farmers of over Rs 10,000 crores have gone in the pocket of the industrialists friends of Narendra Modi.
” The demonisation and GST has wreaked the Indian economy while MGNREGA ,which had helped the farmers in the UPA regime had been weakened,” she said.
Priyanka claimed that the only motive of the BJP is to grab the power and they are ready to do anything to get it.
She said the future of the country is safe only in the hands of Congress and hence people should vote for the Congress candidate. ” Congress has never lied before the people and had always worked on the ground,” she claimed.
The Congress general secretary said if party forms the government at the Centre then the budget would be farmer and development oriented.” We want to fight for everyone and hence change the government to make your future strong,” she appealed to the people.
Congress candidate Supriya Srinate in her address claimed that entry of Priyanka in politics is start of a new political era in the country. She awared the people to be cautious from the parties like BJP for its Jumlebaji formula.
Maharajganj will witness a triangular contest between sitting BJP candidate Pankaj Choudhury, SP candidate Akhilesh Singh and Congress nominee Supriya Srinate where polling is scheduled in the last phase on May 19. (UNI)
