JAMMU, Aug 10: It is anybody’s guess that Congress has caused much pain to the Sikhs and contrary to this antagonism of the oldest political party against the marshal community, the BJP has done so much for the brave community in just eight years of its rule which will be written in the history in golden words.
This was stated by senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta after welcoming Sikh leader, Ranjodh Singh Nalwa in the party fold here at party Headquarters today.
Kavinder said that BJP has a voluminous account of steps it has taken for the welfare of valiant Sikh community in the country. He said that PM Narendra Modi out of his sheer affection towards Sikh community has given nod for the opening of Kartarpur Corridor, a historical step indeed and the near to heart demand of all the Sikhs worldwide. He said that PM Modi inaugurated the trans-border corridor that allows Indian pilgrims visa-free access to Darbar Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan’s Narowal district, where Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, spent the last 18 years of his life.
Kavinder also mentioned the move by the BJP Government to celebrate Bal Diwas in the memory of Chhote Sahibzaade- Zorawar Singh (9) and Fateh Singh (7), who were bricked alive on the orders of Mughal Commander Wazir Khan of Sirhind after they had refused to convert to Islam and had instead chosen death. He said that Congress never gave a serious thought to these demands of Sikh community rather it exploited the community on one pretext or the other.
He said that the recent decision of Modi Government to rescue hundreds of Sikhs from Taliban ruled Afghanistan is also a significant measure taken by the party to ensure succor to Sikh brethrens living under stressful conditions in a country far away from India. He also discussed the instance wherein the Ministers of BJP Government shifted the Holy Guru Granth Sahib from the trouble-torn country giving full honour and with traditional decorum. Speaking on the occasion, Nalwa, who embraced the party after getting fully convinced about the pragmatic policies and nationalism of BJP, vowed to strengthen the party base at the ground level and also assured to resolve the issues of Sikh community in J&K, which are pending since a long time back. He also pledged to act as a bridge between the Sikh community and the party to ensure development and progress of the community.
