JAMMU, Mar 29: District Election Officer (DEO) Reasi, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was alleged threatened by NPP candidate for Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat Prof Bhim Singh on telephone after his campaign vehicles, which was operating without permission, was seized by a Flying Squad headed by the Tehsildar Reasi today.
The DEO had apprised Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Umang Narula and Election Observer V Abrahum about the threatening calls to him by Prof Singh from two different mobile telephone numbers—one of BSNL circle and another with New Delhi number.
Prof Bhim Singh allegedly threatened the DEO when he accompanied by the Election Observer were on way back to Reasi after completion of inspection of the polling stations.
“The report of Flying Squad has been furnished by the Assistant Returning Officer Tilak Raj Sharma to District Nodal Officer Rajinder Singh Tara for further action under the election rules and laws, official sources said.
