J&K Police Central to take on Jammu West in final today

JAMMU, Mar 29: J&K Police Central Team will take on Jammu West in the final of the State Hockey Championship being organised by Hockey J&K under the sponsorship of J&K State Sports Council and KK Hakku stadium tomorrow.
Earlier, in the first semifinal match J&K Police Central team crushed Kathua district team by straight six goals to zero (6-0).
In the first half of the match, Amrinder Singh of J&K Police Central team netted the goal in the 9th minute and in the next minute Sikander Pal Singh scored another goal. Back to back two goals brought the Kathua district team players under pressure.
In 25th minute, Jaspreet Singh of J&K Police Central team scored the goal via penalty corner and raised the scorecard to 3-0 goals.
The players of District Kathua team failed to score even as single goal and the first half ended with 3-0 goals.
In the second half, enthusiastic Amrinder Singh again netted the goal in the 39th minute, while as Jaspreet Singh of J&K Police Central team further raised the scorecard by scoring the goal in the 47th minute.
Amrinder Singh again bounced back and netted the goal in the 49th minute and lifted the scoreboard to 6-0 goals.
After 49th minute, the players of district Kathua team were looking dominated and lost the match by straight 6-0 goals and paved way to J&K Police Central team to register berth in the final of the tourney.
In the second semifinal, Jammu West team smashed Jammu Central team by three goals to one (3-1).
In the first half of the match, Davinder Singh of Jammu West team scored the goal in the 20th minute via penalty corner, whereas Indpal Singh of Jammu West team netted another goal via penalty corner in 25 minute and brought the opponent Jammu Central team players under extreme pressure of 2-0 goals.
The players of Jammu Central team failed to equalize the score and the first half ended with 2-0 goals.
In the second half, Jagjeet Singh of Jammu West team netted the goal via penalty corner in 50th minute and raised the scorecard to 3-0 goals, which the opponent Jammu Central team was finding difficult to equalize.
In the 59th minute, Parvinder Singh of Jammu Central team raised hope of winning the game by scoring the goal in the 59th minute via penalty corner. But their dream of winning the game shattered when they failed to net more goals till end of the second half.
The match came to end with 3-1 goals, which proved good for the players of Jammu Central team as they entered the final of the tourney and will now lock horns with J&K Police Central team in the final tomorrow.
The matches were witnessed by Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sport and Physical Education, University of Jammu as chief guest, whereas Sarla Kohli, vice president was guest of honour.
The matches were officiated by JS Reen, Jagjeet Singh, Karanjeet Singh, Dalbir Mehta, Iqbal Singh, Charanjeet Singh, Amarjeet Singh, Manjeet Singh, RS Bitta, MS Reen and GS Bakshi.
Among others present were Romal Singh, general secretary, Ranbir Singh Sodhi, vice president, HS Chib, veteran player and coach, PP Singh, veteran player, Tajinder Singh and Jagjeet Kour.
