JAMMU, Mar 26: Chief patron of National Panthers Party, Prof Bhim Singh has sought intervention of Chief Election Commissioner of India, Prime Minister and J&K Governor in providing reasonable security cover to the NPP leaders/ contesting candidates.
Addressing a press conference here today, Bhim Singh said that ADGP security J&K, Munir Khan has remained partial in ensuring security cover to Panthers Party leaders and members contesting Parliamentary elections in the State.
He said surprisingly with the announcement of election Model Code of Conduct ADGP Security, J&K has acted swiftly to withdraw security cover and PSOs from ex-legislators and State level party leaders who are under threat perceptions to campaign for contesting candidates in the length & breadth of Jammu and Kashmir State more so in remote and far-flung areas of both the provinces when Pakistan exported militancy and local mischief mongers under directions of militants who are openly confronting Armed Forces, State Police and killing innocent people. Under this critical situation, it is difficult to campaign and contest the elections by Panthers candidates and their campaigners.
For the last ten days, he himself has been knocking doors of higher authorities demanding security cover to the candidates and campaign leaders in Kashmir Province and Jammu Pradesh, but of no avail. Needless to mention Jammu – Poonch and Udhampur – Doda, Baramulla – Kupwara Lok Sabha constituencies are spread to far-flung remote areas which are under scanner of the militants. It is difficult to campaign in these areas without proper security.
Bhim Singh said he himself being in “Z” category, has been deprived of Police escort with the intention that he should not be able to campaign in militancy prone areas.
He said NPP candidate from Baramulla constituency, Jahangir Khan, is without any security cover. P K Ganju, Masood Andrabi- vice presidents, Anita Thakur -general secretary, Jagdev Singh and Shanker Singh Chib also accompanied.
