JAMMU, July 11: JKPCC vice president and former minister Raman Bhalla today strongly resented non-availability of vaccine at Covid vaccination centres in Gandhi Nagar constituency.
He said stocks have run dry and eligible people have been waiting eagerly for the fresh batch of stocks. This was observed by former minister after visiting several areas of Gandhi Nagar constituency on Sunday as a part of his continuous campaign to listen to grievances of aggrieved people of Gandhi Nagar constituency.
Bhalla claimed that for last many days, many Government-designated COVID vaccination centres in Gandhi Nagar constituency could not continue the vaccination drive as whatever supply of vaccines they had received from the Government, has been used and now their stocks are empty.
Congress leader demanded sufficient stock of vaccine and fast track vaccination before possible start of third wave and clamed receiving 20-30 calls of aggrieved people. “They are eager to get them vaccinated but are reluctant to go to Government centres due to long waits, no social distancing and inadequate facilities,” he added.
Meanwhile, there is strong resentment among the young population of the age group 18-45 years for whom the J&K Government had recently established some vaccination centres under third phase of COVID vaccination drive. He alleged that despite repeated attempts, they are not getting appointments in any vaccination centres.
Bhalla launched a scathing attack on the UT Government for its gross failure in providing relief to the people of Jammu region from the ongoing power and water crisis. He maintained that in contrast to claims made on provision of adequate power supply for summer months, the JPDCL has miserably failed to come upto the expectations of people of the region as things have gone haywire and power outage has become synonymous to scorching heat under which Jammu is reeling these days.
He urged the higher ups in the department to take appropriate steps and ensure stable and power-cut free electricity supply to cater to the needs of the people reeling under sweltering heat of peak summers. He also alleged that Delli area has been suffering due to water shortage for last one month and even after many complaints, no action has been taken by the PHE Department to solve their problem.
